The new Lower School Science Lab provides Grace School students with the opportunity to get a hands-on approach to science. The lab is design to provide students the opportunity to learn from experiments that may not be suitable in the regular classroom setting. The lab’s setup is divided into sections so students have a variety of methods to learn. The lab has a section for experiments, a classroom setting for instruction and viewing, and as we continue to grow a technology area for research and online experiments. The lab is taught by a dedicated full time science lab teacher. We are excited to have this new addition to our school, and look forward to providing the students with a more challenging and fun science curriculum.

The Middle School NewsTeam elective course is designed to produce at least one Grace School newspaper publication and four to six Grace School video casts per semester. With the use of digital video cameras and software editing programs the students will photograph, film, edit, and create a Grace School newspaper and newscast highlighting events at our school. The students will study and practice photography and video editing techniques as well as learn how to interview and report on important events and activities. Some of the software programs we will be using for our publications are: Ulead VideoStudio, Windows Movie Maker, Audacity, and Adobe Design Standard CS3.

Christian Studies is a program designed for middle school students to equip them to be fully devoted followers of Christ. Students will experience several different components of this program primarily in small group setting. Community, growth, sharing and discipleship happen readily in this type of venue. Students have a daily schedule that includes these components:

Walking with Christ- this component is best characterized as a Bible Study/Lesson. The goal is to help students get to know Christ and each other better.

Leadership in Action-this component centers on putting our faith in action by Loving God and Loving our Neighbors. Students help to lead activities as teachers facilitate to reach out to their communities.

Apologetics Seminar-After 2 years of putting their faith in action, 8th grade students are challenged in this seminar to defend their faith and have complex discussions about their faith.
