My Favorite Song: Julie Decker
Growing up in Indiana, we would start the holidays off with snow and the famous Johnny Mathis vinyl playing in the background on the record player to help celebrate the Christmas season. My mom and dad would both sing along. My dad’s low bass voice would bring such warmth while the fireplace was burning the fresh-cut wood. My mom’s voice was full of joy as she decorated the house with all the sentimental pieces. The fresh-cut pine tree was always a special addition to our home as we traveled to a tree farm to cut it down with Christmas carols playing to and from.
Christmas music continues to be a staple to my family as we decorate, celebrate, and reminisce special Christmases past. Silent Night and O’ Holy Night would always end the Christmas Eve candlelight service at church. The church pew would be filled with our family and as we would light each candle we would celebrate the gift of Jesus and His birth. Such a special tradition to this day with our family and our extended family as we celebrate together in Indiana.
